Learning Materials
There are a variety of definitions of digital learning materials. In the MERLOT Music area, we consider learning material as a digital object that can be reused to support learning.
The learning materials in MERLOT Music are organized by subject matter. It is possible, however, for a single material to be found in more than one subject category. The Classical Midi Collection, for example, can be found under both Music Appreciation and Music History.
Because all members of MERLOT can contribute materials to the collection, this category scheme helps MERLOT maintain consistency which, in turn, makes it quicker and easier for everyone to find materials when searching or browsing for materials.
The Editorial Board selects materials for review. The peer reveiw process is based on a set of evaluation criteria common to all disciplines.
In MERLOT Music, learning materials are organized by subject matter to help browsing and find materials.
